The purpose of this assignment is
- To incentivize watching the CALS webinar, which will expose you to the work of professional scholars in the humanities and specifically English.
- To stimulate reflection on how the humanities and specifically the English discipline engages with the pressing problems and challenges of today.
Assessment Notification Timing and Criteria
Within a week of the due date, I will enter the grade earned. For the reflection to earn credit, it must meet all of the following binary criteria:
- Completion, Length: is the reflection at least 250 words long?
- Completion, Question: does the reflection end with a question?
- Completion, Demonstration of Having Watched the Thing: is the reflection specific enough to demonstrate that the writer actually watched the webinar?
Instructions
- Watch the The Role of the Humanities in Addressing Vaccine Hesitancy Webinar, either live after class on January 21 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., or watch the recording.
- While watching, write down notes on any comments that are of particular interest to you.
- Review your notes and reflect on what you heard and saw during the event. Consider questions like:
- What held your attention? Why?
- Did any solutions or suggestions seem particularly good? Why?
- Are there any arguments or approaches that we might apply in our class?
- Write 250 words containing your thoughts on the event.
- End your reflection with a question.
- Submit your reflection on Canvas.
